Spooky decorations are about to be on display but that doesn’t mean you are wanting to welcome real bats, snakes, and raccoons into your home and onto your property. Be aware of the signs of infestations to keep your home free from these unwanted guests. If you spot any of these signs or suspect you may have an infestation call the professional team at Wild Trappers right away.

Bats

Bats are protected under both federal and state laws due to the important insect-consuming role they play in our ecosystem. They are relatively quiet in comparison to other critters that may gain access to your home, but will become vocal in the evenings and at night. Bats almost always take up residence in your home’s attic after gaining access through small entry points along your roofline. Look for piles of droppings on the ground or walls around your home.

Snakes

Snakes are the most active from July though October (and even into November). The presence of snake skins and snake eggs are indicators of that you likely have a snake (or snakes) on your property. Be aware of snake hiding places, likely anywhere that offers cover such as wood/rock piles, hedges and grassy/shrub areas, heavy debris regions, and areas around ponds.

Raccoons

Raccoons may look cute but they often carry the rabies virus and their droppings are dangerous to humans. Raccoon infestations are both visual and audible. You will likely see damage to your home’s wood, shingles, electrical wiring, walls, and insulation, as well as droppings and urine stains. Hearing loud thuds and noises can also signify there are raccoons in yourhome. A very common entry point is down your home’s chimney after gaining access to your rooftop by climbing anything located near your home (trees, vines, down spouts, etc).
